1 publicationMicrobial Enzymatic Activity in some Marine Sites of the North Mediterranean sea Coast of Egypt
Microbial enzymatic activities of α- Amylase and β- Galactosidase enzymes were measured seasonally in marine water samples that were collected from two sites located at the south Levantine Sea basin of the Mediterranean Sea of Egypt, Port Fouad city in the east and Alexandria city in the west during four successive seasons from autumn 2014 to summer 2015. Determination of microbial enzymatic activities were carried out by determining reducing sugars using DNS reagent. This research provided a newly applied method for the determination of microbial enzymatic activities in natural open water system, the Mediterranean Sea. The applied methodology involved using marine water samples as the source of crude enzyme , eliminating the difficulties of extracting an enzyme from specific microorganism as well as avoiding the adjustment of aseptically required conditions for the inoculation and incubation of the desired microorganism in culture media tube under the laboratory conditions while providing almost natural conditions for the microbial community represented in water samples. The water samples were chemically analyzed to determine the effect of certain metal ions concentrations on the enzymatic activities of the microbial α- Amylase and β- Galactosidase enzymes. The results showed that though water samples were collected from the same marine source yet, spatial variations occurred between the two sampling sites and seasonal variations at the same sampling sites which were attributed to the naturally occurring environmental variations during the different seasons of the year.

1 publicationIn Vitro Enzyme Inhibition and Thin Layer Chromatography Profiling of Leaf Extract of Phyllanthus Emblica Linn against Type-Ii Diabetes
Phyllanthus emblica Linn commonly known as Indian gooseberry is one of the most important plants used in Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha. In the present study, the leaf methanol extract of P. emblica was studied against the carbohydrate metabolizing enzyme alpha amylase and alpha glucosidase. P. emblica leaf methanol extract showed a moderate α – amylase inhibitory activity (IC50 – 155. 10 ± 0.91µg/ml) and significantly high (P

1 publicationSequential Separation of Cobalt,Nickel and Lead by using α- –Oximino aceto acetanilide benzoylhydrazone(HINABH)
Simple, sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric method has been developed for sequential separation of Co II,NiII and PbII with α-oximinoacetoacetaanilidebenzoylhydrazone(HINABH). HINABH forms Yellowish brown complex with Co II and yellow colored complexes with NiII and PbII.CoII-HINABH complex was extracted in to n-butanol in the pH range 6.0-7.0 at λ max 425 nm., whereas Ni II and PbII complexes were extracted into isoamylalcohol quantitatively in the pH range 8.5-9.5 at λ max 420nm and 410 nm respectively. HINABH complexes of Co II,NiII and PbII obeyed Beer’s law in the range of 0.2-5.0 ppm,1-14 ppm and 2-16 ppm respectively. The method had been successfully employed for the determination of Co II,NiII and PbII in the synthetic mixtures and alloys.

1 publicationPhytochemical and Pharmacological Studies of Bryophyllum daigremontianum (Raym.)
A total of 4 compounds have been isolated from a methanol extract of Bryophyllum daigremontianum. These compounds were identified as glut-5(6)-en-3β-ol (1), mixture of α-amyrin (2a) & β-amyrin (2b) and stigmasterol (3), by extensive analysis of NMR data and by comparison with published values. The crude extract was subjected to assay for antioxidant potential through determination of total phenolic content, membrane stabilizing and thrombolytic activities, which revealed potent antioxidant and moderate membrane stabilizing activities and inhibition of clot of rat’s blood.
