Preparation and Evaluation of Anti inflammatory Polyherbal Gel

R. D. Trivedi et al.
2/1/2018

The aim of present study was to assess the anti-inflammatory activity of polyherbal formulation of leaves of H. aciatica, C. gigantean & A. aspera were collected and authenticated. Extractions of dried leaves and rhizome were carried out with ethanol in soxhlet apparatus. The polyherbal formulation showed the significant anti-inflammatory activity comparable to the standard drug Diclofenac sodium against carrageenan induced rat paw edema method. The polyherbal formulation reduced the inflammation induced by carrageenan by 49.3% and 61.73% on oral administration at 100 mg/ kg and 200 mg/kg respectively as compared to the control treated group.

Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Ethanolic Extract of Barleria Gibsoni in Carrageenan Induced Albino Wistar Rats

Lakshman kumar. D et al.
8/1/2014

Barleria gibsoni belonging to the family Acanthaceae is commonly known as Neel Koranti.  Several species of Barleria are reported for treatment of inflammation associated diseases like Gout, Rheumatism and swelling etc. So, the present work has been taken for phytochemical screening and to investigate anti-inflammatory activity. Anti-inflammatory activity was done by Carrageenan induced hind paw edema method using a plethysmometer. Ibuprofen was used as a standard drug and control receives saline. The test groups received 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg of Ethanolic extract of Barleria gibsoni. Phytochemical screening of EEBG revealed the presence of phytocontituents like carbohydrates, tannins and flavonoids. In acute oral toxicity study it was observed that there was no mortality at any doses up to 2 mg/kg. The EEBG shows significant anti-inflammatory activity in carrageenan induced rats.

Anti inflammatory activity of aqueous extract of fruits of garcinia pedunculata in experimental animals.

Ravi Mundugaru et al.
6/1/2014

Garcinia pedunculata is a medicinal plant commonly known as Amlavetasa, belonging to the family Clusiaceae. The fruit of Garcinia pedunculata were used in the diet as a spice. It has been used as folk remedy in different ailments such as chronic catarrh, asthma, cough, bronchitis, cardiotonicand fever. The present study has been carried out to evaluate the anti inflammatory activity of aqueous extract of fruits of Garcinea pedunculata by carrageenan induced paw edema method. Eighteen healthy wistar albino rats were divided into three different groups of six rats each. Group I administered with normal tap water (5ml/kg) served as normal control. Group II administered with Ibuprofen 100mg/kg served as reference standard and group III administered with aqueous extract of fruits of Garcinea pedunculata(400mg/kg). In Acute oral toxicity study there was no mortality in any dose up to 2000mg/kg. The aqueous extract of fruits of Garcinea pedunculata has shown significant anti inflammatory activity by significantly decrease in the paw volume recorded at three different time interval compared with control group (**p< 0.01). It can be concluded that aqueous extract of fruits of Garcinea pedunculatahas potent anti inflammatory activity and there is a need for further scientific investigation to explore its anti inflammatory activity.
