1 publicationAnti-oxidant potential of Unripe Fruits of Baccaurea Courtallensis (Wight) Mull. Arg., (Phyllanthaceae)
The aqueous extract of unripe fruit of Baccuarea courtallensis were assessed for its anti-oxidant potential. The aqueous extract was subjected to in-vitro anti-oxidant screening by reduction of ferric ions. Ascorbic acid was used as standard. The study reveals that the aqueous extract of the unripe fruit has potent anti-oxidant activity. The activity exhibited by the fruit extract was comparable with the reference standard used in the evaluation. The anti-oxidant activity was found to be concentration dependent and may be attributed to the presence of flavonoid content in the fruits.

1 publicationEvaluation of Aqueous Extract of Eclipta alba Leaves for Preservative Potential Against Fusarium Species
An aqueous extract of the leaves of Eclipta alba (Astraceae) was obtained by cold maceration process and tested for it antimicrobial activity against Fusarium species to ascertain preservative potential in food products. The screening was performed against Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium subglutinans by agar plate disc diffusion method at 50 µg/ml and 100 µg/ml concentrations. The results were interpreted by Kirby-Bauer standard and indicated that the extract showed significant antimicrobial property against Fusarium species, however, predominant activity was found against Fusarium oxysporum.
